1965 Shelby GT350

The 1965 GT 350 this is the original Shelby, I should stop writing now and really need to say no more, but here is the thing – I just want to write more. The thought of this car always makes my hair on the back of my neck stand up. The image seems to be imbedded in my brain, stop it I here your say, well not just yet.

Here is why, this car was the first to:

Be commissioned by ford to carry the Carol Shelby name and snake bite logo,

  • It was about true performance and speed, some say a little rough around the edges,
  • More powerful that its 1966 predecessor and definitely a style that has lived on until today and will no doubt into the future.

So lets get some details and look under the hood:

The engine for the Shelby was based on the HiPo engine option and then had additional modifications of the carburetor and other racing parts. This is where the cheeky 350 came from it was meant to represent (or at least partiality) horsepower.
For the body and styling it just took the mustang to a new level, the less is more effect on the grill, the scooped bonnet which would lead the way for the shaker in the later models. Wheels, rear side windows (just to be different) side scoops and the racing stripes, which have been copied for generations, both for fords mustangs and other vehicle makers.

So we all agree that the styling was important for this classic the 1965 GT 350, look at the photo the car just has attitude forget how it sounds (which is awesome) it just has attitude, big time.
